Note: To use the TSC TTP-245C label printer on a Mac you will need to use the ethernet connection for it to work properly. The USB connection will not work correctly on the Mac.

Unpacking and Inspection


This printer has been specially packaged to withstand damage during shipping. Please carefully inspect the packaging and printer upon receiving the bar code printer. 

Please retain the packaging materials in case you need to reship the printer. Unpacking the printer, the following items are included in the carton.

Setup


Setting Up the Printer


  1. Place the printer on a flat, secure surface.
  2. Make sure the power switch is off.
  3. Connect the printer to the router/switch with an RJ-45 network cable.
  4. Plug the power cord into the AC power cord socket at the rear of the printer, and then plug the power cord into a properly grounded power outlet.

     

Note: Please switch OFF printer power switch prior to plug in the power cord to printer power jack.


Open / Close the Top Cover
  1. Open the printer top cover by pulling the tabs located on each side towards the front of the printer, then lift the top cover to the maximum open angle.
     

  2. A top cover support at the rear of the printer will engage with lower inner cover to hold the printer top cover open.

     

  3. Hold the top cover and press the top cover support to disengage the top cover support with lower inner cover. Gently close the top cover.

     


Loading the Ribbon

  1. Open the printer’s top cover by pulling the top cover open levers located on each side of the printer and lifting the top cover to the maximum open angle.
  2. Open the ribbon access cover.

     

  3. Insert the ribbon right side onto the supply hub. Align the notches on the left side and mount onto the spokes.

     

  4. Insert the paper core right side onto the rewind hub. Align the notches on the left side and mount onto the spokes.

     

  5. Stick the ribbon onto the ribbon rewind paper core.

     

  6. Turn the ribbon rewind gear until the ribbon plastic leader is thoroughly wound and the black section of the ribbon covers the print head. Close the ribbon access cover and the top cover.

  1. Open the printer top cover by pulling the tabs located on each side towards the front of the printer, then lift the top cover to the maximum open angle.
  2. Separate and hold open the media holders.


  3. Place the roll between the holders and close them onto the core.


  4. Press down the media holder lock switch to hold the label roll firmly.


  5. Place the paper, printing side face up, through the media sensor and place the label leading edge onto the platen roller. Move the media guides to fit the label width by turning the guide adjuster knob. Disengage the top cover support and close the top cover gently.

Installing the Drivers


  1. Follow the steps in the previous section to connect the printer cables and turn on the POS computer.
  2. Open the Mac System Preferences and choose the Print & Scan section. Click the + button below the list of installed printers.
  3. In the list of connected printers, select the TSC printer, wait for the printer driver to be located, then click Add in the lower right corner of the dialogue. If the printer driver is not located, in the Use pull down menu choose Select a driver to use...(OS 10.6 and earlier) or Select Printer Software... (OS 10.7), choose the Zebra ZPL driver.
  4. Quit the Mac System Preferences.?

Configure the Printer

  1. Go to the CUPS website localhost:631/?
  2. Click the Printers button in the top right of the page.
  3. Select the printer name and then in the pulldown that reads Administration select Set Default Options
  4. Set the Media Size to Custom, Width to 4, Height to 1.25 and Units to Inches.
  5. Select Printer Setting and set darkness to 25 and print rate to 5 inches/sec.
  6. Click the Set Default Options button.
  7. Close the CUPS website tab.

Configure MicroBiz Tag Printing


  1. Open your MicroBiz cloud Store Operations.
  2. Select Catalog then Manage Products.
  3. Select an item by double clicking on it.
  4. Click More Options then Tag Printing.
  5. Set the format to 2.25x1.25" and set QTY to Exactly and click Print.
  6. Click on Paper Size and select the Custom size option. It should be the very last option in the drop down menu.
  7. Set Margins to Custom.
  8. Set the top margins to 0.00" and the left and right margins to 0.75"
  9. Click print to make sure the label is printing correctly.
